This town garden achieves year-round interest through a blend of styles, where an immersive wave of summer blooms softens a framework of clipped evergreens.
Situated in the heart of this historic town, the north facing borders in this walled courtyard garden needed an update. A sun trap during the high summer months, but gloomy in the winter. The long narrow space was divided up into a terraced dining space and a cool green lawn for summer relaxation. Structural, clipped glossy, evergreen shapes
were inserted between dense loose plantings of perennials, summer bulbs and free-seeding annuals. On warm summer days the dining area is immersed in tall airy blooms, fragrance, and alive with the sound of buzzing insects. Bright clipped evergreen shrubs bring colour and lifeto the garden during the winter months.
